RoHS Compliance

In response to the legislated environmental directives being instituted throughout the world, Same Sky has established a comprehensive program that is intended to promote product compliance with the new laws. One notable directive is RoHS (Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances).

The RoHS legislation restricts the use of certain hazardous substances to levels of less than 100-1000 ppm used in electronic products. All Same Sky RoHS compliant parts are compatible with lead-free solder processes.

Part-specific RoHS information, including a RoHS Certificate of Compliance, is available on the website. The website will continually be updated as parts become compliant and when additional RoHS information is available. If you cannot find the RoHS information that you need on the website, please contact Same Sky directly at 1-877-323-3576 or MaterialCompliance@sameskydevices.com.

Reach Compliance

"REACH is a new European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use (EC 1907/2006). It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemical substances. The new law entered into force on 1 June 2007."

"The aim of REACH is to improve the protection of human health and the environment through the better and earlier identification of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances. At the same time, innovative capability and competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry should be enhanced. The benefits of the REACH system will come gradually, as more and more substances are phased into REACH." - European Commission Web Site

Same Sky is always looking for ways to improve our products and manufacturing processes.

Conflict Minerals

In August of 2012, the SEC implemented Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act, mandating all SEC issuers to report whether or not conflict minerals are used in the production of their products and to disclose the country of origin for these minerals. Conflict minerals consist of tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold and are referred to as the 3TGs. 3TGs originate in multiple locations around the world including the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and adjoining countries (collectively referred to as the "Covered Countries"). In the DRC, some of the sources of the 3TGs are controlled by armed groups that have conducted severe human rights violations.

Same Sky is committed to ethical business practices and the protection of basic human rights. Same Sky expects all of its suppliers to have policies and procedures in place to ensure that any 3TGs used in the production of the products sold to Same Sky are DRC conflict-free. This means that the products must not contain 3TGs that directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed groups in the Covered Countries. Same Sky is actively working with its supply chain to do a Reasonable Country of Origin Inquiry (RCOI) while exercising due diligence by following the OECD Due Diligence Guidance.
